About the exhibition:
"This series of paintings and works on paper titled "Renewal, New Morning" is my response to our Catastrophe. Some of us attempted to respond in a positive manner, sometimes it was successful, sometimes not. Through this experience we were all in dire need of some type of cleansing, a way to refresh ourselves, clear our minds, take in the situation and make intelligent decisions about how to continue. By visiting the bequtiful clear blue waters of our Gulf Coast my renewal die was cast with the sea. I saw the sea as a metaphor for renewal and a cleansing of our emotions and physical beings. As I absorbed the great natural beauty of the sea and its surroundings, I photographed the colors so there would be a visual reference once I was back in the studio. The clarity of the sea and its beautiful colors were soothing and refreshing. These paintings borrow much from nature and have been a great aid in mending my psychological state and building upon my well being, my own "self help" manual"
